    Why This Site Was Created

In the Company of Wolves was created partly due to the minimal amount of correct information about raising captive raised wolves and high content wolfdogs. And it was created for the love I have for them.

I have raised all contents of wolfdogs for about 16 years. My personal preference now is to continue raising my high content wolfdogs, and additionally Bengal cats. Much of what I have on this site pertains to the higher content wolfdogs. I have more interaction and hands on experience with the higher contents. I also include good information that covers all wolfdog content in order to try to educate everyone. If you have any questions about a certain behavior that I have not made clear about wolfdog content, please write so I can clarify it for you. There is a huge difference in raising wolves, high content wolfdogs, and low to mid content wolfdogs

I promote only responsible ownership, care, welfare, sanctuary and breeding of ANY companion canine. I will never promote a wolfdog of mid, and high content to be simply a pet. They are not pets. I consider them non - traditional or alternative companion dogs. I have never glamorized wolves or wolfdogs. They are not glamorous. You need to understand what it takes to care for them responsibly. There is no excuse for you or anyone else not to take personal accountability for any animal you bring into your care. Last October I took in two rescues of a completely different species<VBG> They are in my critters section.

In the Company of Wolves can never be fully finished, as I learn new things every day. If I have learned something in error I will change my information to educate you with the best of my expertise and knowledge.

Some people call any companion animal that is not mainstream an exotic animal. That is your choice to use that term. The term wolf hybrid is also used, and its perfectly acceptable.

You may notice that I have used some gif animations on my site depicting different dogs. I’ve tried to fit each one with the subject matter. Each animation is linked to its owners website. I use these gifs because I enjoy them, and I think they are adorable.

NOTE: There is a program from National Geographic called "Man Among Wolves" with Shaun Ellis and his portrayal about living with a captive wolf pack. I don’t promote, nor do I encourage the behavior he displays with the wolves. That is NOT how we in America live with our wolfdogs or captive raised wolves. As the saying goes, DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME. First off, you NEVER submit to them, EVER. We are human beings, we are not animals and it is not necessary, nor is it encouraged to behave that way with these animals. That submission, sharing food, and behavior by humans is an accident waiting to happen. When I watched this the program frankly I was appalled and embarrassed at the behavior he displayed with this young pack. Believe me, the majority of people who raise these animals DO NOT behave this way with their wolves and wolfdogs. We do not give up our families to share our lives with these animals. They are animals, we are humans and the animals KNOW this. The way he lives with wolves is completely unorthodox and in my opinion, unacceptable.
